Cho Ray Hospital Receives JICA President’s Award | Health

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) presents the JICA President’s Certificate of Merit to Cho Ray Hospital for his great contribution to the fight against Covid-19.

The Certificate of Merit aims to honor individuals and organizations that have an excellent contribution to the training of human resources, the development of society and economy in developing countries through international cooperation projects.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office Shimizu Akira expressed sincere thanks to the management and medical professionals of Cho Ray Hospital for their close cooperation with JICA in projects and the agency’s confidence in the hospital.

He said it was his honor to donate the JICA President’s Award to Cho Ray Hospital. The medical establishment has done much to promote relations between the two countries in general, JICA and Cho Ray Hospital in particular, in view of the 50th anniversary of the founding of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam (1973-2023 ).

For his part, Director of Cho Ray Hospital, Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc expressed his pride at the hospital’s performance which was honored by JICA. Cho Ray and the HCMC Covid-19 Intensive Care Hospital have been tasked with treating over 1,200 patients with severe Covid-19 and have faced many challenges including the shortage of medical staff and equipment during the epidemic peak. The JICA President’s Award will be a great encouragement for hospital staff.

In 2021-2022, JICA provided two medical devices to Cho Ray Hospital to support the fight against Covid-19.

Director of Cho Ray Hospital, Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc hopes for further cooperation between the hospital and JICA which will become an iconic long-lasting cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
