Vietnam adds 328 cases to local Covid tally

The Ministry of Health on Monday morning confirmed 328 domestic patients with Covid-19 in 11 localities, and more than half of them are in HCMC.

The southern metropolis has reported 175 patients, including 121 in isolated areas and quarantine areas, and the sources of transmission of the remaining 54 are still unknown.

Dong Thap province in the Mekong Delta has reported 100 cases, including 68 in closed areas and 32 in centralized quarantine camps.

Central Phu Yen Province has recorded 23 cases, Northern Hung Yen Province has nine and Central Khanh Hoa Province has eight, all of which have come into contact with previously confirmed Covid-19 patients.

An Giang province in the Mekong Delta has recorded six cases, five of which have been in contact with previous cases. The other case had visited Tien Giang Delta Province and HCMC before contracting the virus.

Long An province which borders HCMC has recorded two cases linked to previous patients.

The northern province of Bac Ninh has recorded two cases, one linked to a Covid-19 patient and the other to an unidentified source of infection.

Northern Lang Son Province recorded a cluster-related case in Quang Chau Industrial Park in neighboring Bac Giang Province.

The case of Dong Nai province which borders HCMC is linked to a group at the Binh Dien wholesale market in District 8.

The case of Soc Trang province in the Mekong Delta is also linked to the Binh Dien market cluster.

Since April 27, when the new wave began in Vietnam, 16,782 community infections have been recorded in 55 of the country’s 63 cities and provinces.

On Sunday, HCMC overtook Bac Giang to become the most affected locality. Vietnam’s largest city recorded 6,209 in this wave, while the number of cases in Bac Giang remains at 5,661.
